John Power's Bible,1846
John Power was born 1818, in County Waterford, Ireland. He was a copper miner in Bonmahon which is part of Ireland's Copper Coast. Sometime during the 1840s in the midst of the Irish Potato Famine, he immigrated to Baltimore where he continued to work as a copper miner in the Bare Hills mine in Baltimore County.
This is his family bible, purchased in 1846. Subsequent generations have noted births and deaths on its pages. The last entry is dated 1964.
John Power was my third great grandfather. He died in Baltimore in 1859.
